I've run through all of the suggestions above, and others made by players. The game still goes through the patch loop and says it cannot create shortcut.
Hi,
Have you tried going into the EVE folder and running the eve.exe or the ExeFile.exe without starting them from a shortcut? Do you still get into a patching loop?

Hi all,
Just checking in to say that we're currently testing out a fix to a lot of the problems posted here. We will let you know when it has been deployed. Sorry for not replying individually, we're working on it. Associate Technical Producer - Core Technology Group |

korondipeter wrote:What about 64 bit support?
The issue you are experiencing has nothing to do with 64 bit support. There are currently 37 000 players online TQ, a lot of them are running on a 64 bit OS.
What you are experiencing is something else. Have you tried rebooting your computer and then without starting any eve client or anything else, run the repair tool.
The reason why you will have to reboot is to make sure that there are no locked files from other programs.
Please let me know how that works for you.

Lovelocke wrote: Can we stop with the first line technical support "is it plugged in" stuff now and move on to either removing the patch from the server for additional testing or an actual fix? By fix I mean a file which we can download, double click and wow look EVE works, not a "if you bury a frog in the garden and sing Maria in the bathroom mirror 3 times then try repair.exe" kind of fix please.
Hi Lovelocke,
I have looked through your replies and it seems that you had issues pasting the logs for the issue because of the HTML in it. This makes it difficult for us to help you with the issue you're having.
We are releasing a new repair tool and a new launcher which should resolve all issues that we have managed to get information on and fix to date. If you continue having issues after this has been released we will have to take a look at the log which is generated. You can for example file a bug report, zip up the log file and attach it to the bug report and then tell me the bug report ID and I will gladly have a look at it tonight.
I very much apologize for the inconvience and I hope you see that we are trying to do everything we can to get those who are having issues back up and running again. The workarounds posted previously in this thread has helped quite a few people, because the issue they have is that there is a process in the background which is preventing the launcher from updating itself and the client. Jehavu wrote:WindowsError: [Error 32] The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process: 'C:\\Program Files (x86)\\CCP\\EVE\\resDX9Caldari.stuff Total Runtime: 0h03m56
Using Win 7 with firewalls etc turned off. Any help is appreciated.
This implies that there is a process running in the background which is holding on to the file which the repair tool is trying to update for you.
To work around this problem, have you tried restarting the computer (this will make sure no other processes are hanging on to the .stuff files) and without starting any eve clients or launchers in between star the repair.exe from the eve folder. See the post below for step by step instructions.
Please let us know if that works or not. Associate Technical Producer - Core Technology Group |

raven666wings wrote:how am i supposed to kill those processes and have the tools working at the same time? thats beyond my comprehension, restarting my computer doesnt fix that
1. Open task manager 2. Close the Launcher.exe 3. Close the repair.exe 4. Navigate into the EVE folder where you have the client installed 5. Start the repair.exe
This should work. Associate Technical Producer - Core Technology Group |

As of 23:57 GMT we released a new Launcher and a new repair tool to resolve some issues that players have been experiencing during the initial deployment of Crucible 1.5.
Those of you experiencing issues with the Launcher or updating the game, please follow these steps:
1.Reboot the computer. 2.Navigate to the EVE client install folder. 3.Run the Repair tool until it finshes. 4.Run eve.exe from the same folder
We ask people to reboot their computer to make sure that there are no locked files or other processes running while running the repair tool. This would otherwise interfere with the repair tool and prevent the client from updating.
Please let us know if this resolves the issues you are experiencing. Associate Technical Producer - Core Technology Group |

No success re: Mac client. Patch version is the same, so I'm guessing the update hasn't made it to Mac yet. Any update on that?
I am afraid that we have no updates for the Mac yet. It will demand a bit more investigation from our side. I would advice Mac players who are having issues to reinstall the game to see if that resolves the issue. Associate Technical Producer - Core Technology Group |

Sendo Jarix wrote:Marvyn Dodgers wrote:Miss President wrote:Miss President wrote:Why are all of my windows and settings lost?
Install went fine, first load it preserved my old settings,, but after Eve client restart it's all gone again?
I thought this was not supposed to happen? Ok, i figured this out. Old settings remained in ...appdata...../ c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility folder However, CCP has laid the final blow, and for whatever reason, probably unknown to themselves, created new folder called c_progra~2_ccp_eve_tranquility Way to go. I'm on 64 bit windows 7 btw. So I copied my settings over, overwrote and it seems to work now. Any help would be appreciated on this front. Running under XP, latest SP, have Eve on external HD H:, can't seem to find where the relevant folders to fix this would be as my setting seem to be borked atm. Thanks, MD (Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, and yes, I really need it dumbed down as to what files/folders to move where :) ) C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility Copy the folder named "settings" from here into this folder and overwrite: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_progra~2_ccp_eve_tranquility
This issue has been resolved and the copying between folders shouldn't be needed. Associate Technical Producer - Core Technology Group |

korondipeter wrote: However launcher still not working for me. Still 16-bit complain.
Can you try downloading this http://cdn1.eveonline.com/350962/EVEOnlineLauncherInstaller.exe and applying that to the client where you have a broken Launcher?
Does that enable you to start the Launcher? Associate Technical Producer - Core Technology Group |

Alunis wrote: Cause: CCP has decided to use a protocol that uses a UDP packet stream and has zero error correction while streaming the traffic to the end users. The problem is not with the UDP stream itself, it's with anything that does protocol filtering such as your router in the case it's doing SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) filtering or many firewalls which do protocol filtering.
This just isn't true. We're using HTTP range requests and rsync over HTTP.
Alunis wrote: Cure: You must disable in your router the SPI Filtering if it's enabled. If you use ESET / NOD32 you must go into the advanced options and add exceptions for Launcher.exe, repair.exe, and the eve.eve file as well.
This however is true and we urge those who are running into problems with ESET NOD32 to contact customer support and ask them to release an update to the software.
Alunis wrote: CCP is telling people to reboot and jump through hoops and all sorts of silly things. This isn't an issue you can resolve by rebooting it if you're geting those errrors. So try using the suggestions.
This workaround which was posted early morning on the 14th was to resolve various other issues people were experiencing and many have reported that this worked for them. Data corruption which is what a lot of people are reporting now can be the result of firewalls and non functioning routers and other causes which we are still investigating. We're very much trying to help people getting this issue and getting to the bottom of the problems they are experiencing.

Are you using ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus? If so, there is a news post here: http://community.eveonline.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=4930&tid=1
What error is your Launcher giving you? I looked in another thread and the repair tool is giving the error I pasted below. Is that still the case?
